The universe works in mysterious ways.

In early 2012, I attended a potluck dinner hosted by the Vegetarians of Central Florida.  Having been a vegetarian since 1990, I felt right at home. The food was great, and the company was entertaining.

One young woman mentioned she put kale into her banana smoothies.

“Uh, what did you say?” I asked her.  (Did she say kale into a smoothie? Oh, my! Really?)

She smiled this knowing smile: “Yes, the kale adds bonus nutrients. A powerhouse veggie actually.”

She asked if I knew of Kris Carr.  I was not aware of that name.  She said, “Kris with a K and her last name begins with C.  She is a plant-based wellness expert. You should look her up.”

When I got home to my computer to look up Kris Carr, a new chapter of my life began. Yup, I’ve followed Kris since that evening in 2012.

Kris is indeed a self-made expert who got her start when she received a medical diagnosis.
