My First Volunteer Gig: Rescue Shelter Photographer (2012)

I jumped at the chance to be a volunteer photographer back in 2012. The county shelter needed help for about 2 months. So on Sundays, I took photos of the sweet rescues so families would see them in more relaxed poses. This was my gateway into advocating for all animals.

Jumping at the chance to be a volunteer photographer in 2012, I worked on Sundays for about two months.

Relaxed poses would increase adoption rates for the homeless cats and dogs.

This was my gateway into advocating for all animals.

Rooterville Animal Sanctuary 2016

This city girl spent 2 nights in the barn at Rooterville Animal Sanctuary. It was a cold December in 2016. And I had the time of my life. What a wonderful place for these rescued farm animals.

Booked my two-night vacation to sleep “in the barn” at Rooterville Animal Sanctuary.

It was late December 2016. Very chilly!

With my sleeping bag and the sanctuary’s nice warm heater, I was as cozy as the pigs in their hay.

Rooterville: Tinsel the Cow

Bananas! Tinsel the Cow loves bananas so I brought two bunches with me.

On the way to Melrose, I stopped to get a bunch of bananas for Tinsel the Cow.

Little did I know how much fun it would be to treat him to an afternoon snack!

It was magical meeting Tinsel the Cow.

Returning home, I wrote this essay:  Click here

Animal Sanctuaries

My goal when I retire one day is to travel North America and visit animal sanctuaries. These non-profit sanctuaries are inspiring people, changing the world, and saving lives of all beings (both human and non-human).
